Welcome to my ePortfolio!
My name is Veronica Driskill, and I am a trainer at the Child Welfare Academy. I was born and raised in Unalakleet, Alaska, where I am an enrolled member with the Native Village of Unalakleet. Unalakleet is a small coastal community along the Norton Sound where we are able to enjoy the subsistence lifestyle from the ocean and the river and a place that I still call “home.” After I graduated high school, I attended four years of college and received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Alcohol Studies in 2002. Since that time, I have worked in numerous positions with a majority of my work in the Social Services Field. I worked as the ICWA worker for the Native Village of Unalakleet for three years and later worked for the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association for two years as their ICWA coordinator. I worked for the State of Alaska Office of Children’s Services for two years as a Family Services Caseworker and as an Intake worker (receiving and writing the reports). Prior to my current position, I worked for Chugachmiut as a Child Welfare Systems Administrator. Through my extensive experience in child welfare, I have seen firsthand the importance of collaborating with others towards the common goal of promoting resiliency and self-sustainability in our families. I believe success happens when we can accomplish this. |
Hobbies: I love being out in the country. I enjoy going out boating and doing subsistence activities at home (berry picking, fishing, hunting). Road tripping is another hobby of mine that I love to do in the summer and fall.
I enjoy seeing all that Alaska has to offer while spending time with my family and friends. |
